Six specimen have been liberated during 2014 in the Comunidad de Madrid, by the “Hacking“method or “Country breeding” within Zepa 56.

Origin of the specimens:

  • 2 specimens born in GREFA’s Centre for captivity breeding: Rómulo and Remo.
  • 3 specimens rescued from problematic nests in Andalusia: Sua, Haza and Játar.
  • 1 specimen born at the Centre in Ardèche (France): Zahara.

The protocol for the liberation by “Hacking” for this species indicates that the adequate age for introducing young Bonelli eagles is between 45-50 days.  Therefore, for the first time in the Life Bonelli project, 6 specimens have been liberated by this method.  We decided to do it gradually so that each specimen was within the rank of the previously mentioned age.
